I wonder if it "breaks" certain cards but even then you think the jokers at Microsoft would have had the update check the card's drivers before patching to verify whether or not the card was problematic. I guessed they figured it would be easier for us to stumble across the update then do the research themselves. From what I can tell, so far, it also works on Intel cards.
