What is this “Firewall” thing?

Yes, that question was asked to me recently and I almost spewed my coffee all over my laptop. I don’t have time right now to put my answer here or write up a “How to” for Zone Alarm Pro 4.5.xxx but in the mean time if you are in need of a firewall check out CheckPoint’s Zone Alarm Pro. I’ve been using if for years (version 4.5.xxx) and swear by it.
You can download Zone Alarm Pro @ http://download.zonelabs.com/bin/free/information/zap/releaseHistory.html.

Well, ZA is good, but not the best. Look at Firewall Leak Tester results, it looks not very effective. I’ve been using Agnitum Outpost Security Suite since first versions of Outpost Firewall. It works really solid. Plus security suite includes anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-banner, anti-spam. Good!

While I agree it isn’t the best I will say that Zone Alarm Pro ranks right up there with Outpost. This has been discussed many a time on BroadBandReports.com and I would say it falls in the same category as “Which is better? DSL or Cable”; One may be better than the other but ultimately in the end it comes up to user preference and price.
Thanks for your reply! :->
