Request for Firefox Extension Makers
If you aren’t familiar with the OpenDNS Domain Tagging feature then I’d suggest checking out the Domain Tagging FAQ before proceeding: http://www.opendns.com/community/domaintagging/faq/
Now, my idea I submitted to OpenDNS can be found at http://ideabank.opendns.com/story.php?title=Domain_Tagging_Extension_or_Toolbar which has user submitted comments and a voting feature (still not sure what exactly the voting feature of the submitted ideas do). So far I have 26 votes and five comments on my idea (all positive). Here is what I submitted:
A Firefox Extension or Toolbar (for other browsers) that would allow a logged-in OpenDNS.com user to submit sites to the Domain Tagging database.
For example, if I were to visit www.google.com and it was not already in the database, I would be able to select an option “Add site: ‘www.google.com’ to the OpenDNS Database?” then include the appropriate category (also pulled from the OpenDNS Database which would be “Search Engine”.
This would eliminate the need to manually submit sites to the database and allow web surfers to quickly and accurately add sites to the Domain Tagging database.
What I need is somebody that can implement a plugin for Firefox that would work with the idea I submitted and based along those guidelines above.
So if you are any good with programming Firefox plugins and wouldn’t mind slaving hours upon hours attempting to untangle how the OpenDNS Domain Tagging feature would work with the plugin then feel free to get started! :p
