Mobiola xPlayer for Blackberry Bold 9000

For Christmas my wonderful wife bought me a brand new Blackberry Bold 9000 phone. I was so excited to get my hands on a new testbed/project phone and replace my recently sold Blackberry 8310c… or g, or h…. something, I don’t remember what OS version I was running because I tinkered with it so much.

Anyway, I opened the box, transferred my data from my 8310, then immediately started looking for apps for my phone. While waiting for the unofficial Blackberry Bold os 4.6.0.219 download to finish I thought I’d give streaming media a try on the 3G.

What do I get? “Blackberry cannot open this type of media. SAVE; OPEN; CANCEL”  CRAP! I can’t stream media? What was I going to do with my premium DI.fm account?

I started looking around and came across Mobiola xPlayer. I tested it out on my Bold and it works great on 3G! I can stream DI.fm @ 96kbps without any issue. I used the trial for 7 days and it makes for a nice streaming media device while in my SUV. I plug my stereo into my phone and stream DI.fm and I’m a happy driver. I can stream 192kbps on a WIFI connection without any issue as well. 192 on 3G buffers for a loooong time, so stick with 96kpbs.

After the 7 days I paid for the full version of xPlayer ($19.99).

Give it a shot for free at Shapeservices.com and try out DI.fm Premium too.
