I just finished install Windows 7 64-bit on my sister’s Vostro 1500 and spent the last hour hunting down these drivers. Hope it helps somebody

Hi John. Did you have any Vostro 1500 to check if those video drivers actually work? I’m asking because of this unsolved bug on the Vostro 1500 http://en.community.dell.com/forums/t/19324840.aspx which prevent the use of any video driver but V7.14.10.1272
If 64 bits drivers work fine could be a very welcome solution.
Thanks in advance!

Yes, the drivers that I linked to in my post were drivers that I used on a Vostro 1500 on which I installed Windows 7 x64. Not sure about that bug on Dell’s website (and I can’t read it right now because I’m on my Blackberry) but the video drivers came from Intel’s website. Everything installed without issue.

Wow, thanks John for this quick reply. Can you please later check on your Vostro 1500? The bug surface only on heavy use, so, the only way to spot it is stressing the Notebook. On the link above you can find instructions and a couple of tools to test it.
I really appreciate it, because I’m currently fighting Dell Support about the issue.
Thanks again.

The Vostro is my sister’s laptop. I used it for a week to make sure everything installed correctly. For two days she edited pictures in Photoshop 64bit without issue. I for
ward the links to her and get her to check it out.

@Psy: it will be, at the earliest, Monday of next week before any testing can be done. I contact you via e-mail with more information, granted the e-mail you provided for the post comments are correct.

@john I appreciate the trouble of testing this (thank your sister from my part too). You can contact me to the above email, and I’m providing a second email on this post.
For testing, I’m currently using this software: http://hcidesign.com/memtest
I can detect memory corruption right away on Vista. Windows 7 improved the thing a bit: sometimes the system boots just OK and sometimes boot inestable. I think the problem is related to the way Vista/7 prepares the video shared memory at boot time, since I have a AMD690G based motherboard with a similar behavior.

Andy said this on March 12th, 2010 at 23:48
@Andy, do you have a link to the beta drivers?
johndball said this on March 13th, 2010 at 08:42
yeah.. Here is the one that Nvidea tech support gave me. Worked great. This is the download link. Open this and it should bring up the download manager.
http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/195.81/195.81_notebook_winvista_win7_64bit_international_beta.exe
Here is the web site if that doesn’t work..

there are also other Nvidia drivers on their site.. i think (not sure) that there might be another driver for the GT. Mine was just an M and so the beta version worked, but like i said i think there is another one for the GT. You might give this site some looks and see if you can find your answer here. http://www.nvidia.com/page/support.html
